Hyundai's latest iteration of the i20 is one of the most awaited launches of 2020 and now the Korean carmaker has finally announced the launch date. The premium hatchback is scheduled to launch on the 5th of November. However, prior to the launch, Hyundai has revealed few details of the upcoming hatch, so that the customers can start booking it online on Hyundai's Click2Buy platform. Customers can book their car by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000/- on the online platform or they can even choose to visit their nearest dealership and book it.

Design

According to Hyundai, the design language of the new i20 is based on the philosophy 'Sensuous Sportiness' which gives the car more dynamic and sporty appeal. The car that will be launched in India will be similar to its international version except in the place of all LED headlamp it will get a projector setup. The front of the car will come with a new grille finished in piano black along with a reworked bumper and bonnet. The i20 will come with a fresh back with sporty taillamps extending to the fuel lid. The car will also get new black and silver-finished alloy wheels and a sleeker side profile. The fog lamp and the front bumper design may remind you of the Grand i10 Nios.

Interior and Colour Options

Inside, the car gets a new driver-centric dashboard design, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen attached to the instrument cluster similar to the one which we see on the i10 Nios, digital instrument readout, a Bose sound system, sunroof, and much more. The car will also be offered in four variants - Magna, Sportz, Asta, and Asta (O) with six colour options to choose from including Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Titan Grey, Fiery Red, Starry Night, Metallic Copper. The Dual Tone colour options are Polar White with Black Roof or Fiery Red with Black Roof.

Powertrain

The new 2020 i20 will be launched with three engine options, a 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel. Both the petrol engines will be available with manual or automatic gearboxes. Meanwhile, the 1.0-litre turbo petrol will be the only engine option to get an intelligent manual transmission (iMT). On the other hand, the 1.5-litre diesel will not be offered with an automatic transmission.

The all-new Hyundai i20 is expected to be priced between INR 5.5 lakh to INR 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom), as it will continue to battle other premium hatchbacks in its segment, like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz and the newly launched Tata Altroz.
